“소외 없는 교정, 온기로 잇다”… 해남교도소, 장애인의 날 맞아 교화행사 개최

해남교도소가 제46회 장애인의 날을 맞아 신체적 불편과 고령으로 어려움을 겪는 수용자들을 위한 따뜻한 교화행사를 마련했다.

해남교도소는 4월 20일 ‘제46회 장애인의 날’을 기념해 장애인 및 고령 수용자들을 대상으로 나눔과 위로의 시간을 갖는 교화행사를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 행사는 해남교도소 교정협의회의 후원으로 마련됐으며, 피자와 치킨 등 간식을 함께 나누는 방식으로 진행됐다. 특히 신체적 제약이나 연령으로 인해 수용 생활에 상대적으로 어려움을 겪는 수용자 17명이 참여해 의미를 더했다.

행사에 참여한 수용자들은 일상적인 교정생활에서 벗어나 잠시나마 정서적 안정을 느끼고, 공동체의 온기를 체감하는 시간을 가졌다.
서영수 교정협의회 회장은 “장애인의 날을 맞아 소외될 수 있는 수용자들을 직접 격려하고 따뜻한 마음을 나눌 수 있어 매우 뜻깊게 생각한다.”며 “앞으로도 지속적인 관심과 지원을 이어가겠다.”고 밝혔다.

김남진 해남교도소장은 “신체적인 불편함이 있거나 고령의 수용자들도 결코 소외되지 않도록 세심하게 살피는 것이 교정기관의 중요한 역할”이라며 “이번 행사가 참여자들에게 수용 생활의 고단함을 이겨낼 작은 위안이 되길 바란다.”고 말했다.

한편 해남교도소는 수용자의 인권 보호와 정서적 안정, 사회 복귀를 위한 다양한 교화 프로그램을 지속적으로 운영하며 ‘사람 중심 교정행정’ 실현에 힘쓰고 있다.

According to Haenam Prison, the event was held on April 20 to mark the occasion, providing a time of sharing and comfort for disabled and elderly inmates.
The event was sponsored by the Haenam Prison Correctional Council and included sharing food such as pizza and chicken. A total of 17 inmates, who experience greater difficulties in prison life due to physical limitations or age, participated, adding significance to the occasion.
Participants were able to step away briefly from their routine correctional life, gaining emotional stability and experiencing a sense of community warmth.
Seo Young-soo, Chairman of the Correctional Council, said, “It is very meaningful to personally encourage inmates who may feel marginalized on the Day of Persons with Disabilities and to share warmth with them,” adding, “We will continue to provide ongoing interest and support.”
Kim Nam-jin, Warden of Haenam Prison, stated, “It is an important role of correctional institutions to ensure that inmates with physical difficulties or advanced age are not left behind,” and added, “We hope this event provides even a small comfort to help them overcome the hardships of prison life.”
Meanwhile, Haenam Prison continues to operate various rehabilitation programs aimed at protecting inmates’ human rights, ensuring emotional stability, and supporting their reintegration into society, striving to realize ‘people-centered correctional administration.’
